Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2025

By accessing and using UnlockRiver’s services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access our services.

These terms apply to all services including phone unlocking, IMEI checks, iCloud/FRP unlocks, digital licenses, and eSIM services.

Carrier Unlock Services

We provide factory carrier unlock services through official channels. Unlocking is performed via manufacturer databases and carrier systems. Success rates vary by device, carrier, and device status (blacklist, contract obligations, etc.).

IMEI Check Services

IMEI information is retrieved from official databases. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy as data is sourced from third-party providers.

Digital Services

Digital licenses and eSIM services are provided as-is. Compatibility depends on your device and location. All sales are final once services are delivered.

You Must:

  • Be at least 18 years old or have parental consent
  • Provide accurate device and contact information
  • Own or have legal authorization to unlock the device
  • Ensure device is not blacklisted or reported stolen
  • Provide valid IMEI/serial numbers

You Must Not:

  • Submit orders for stolen or fraudulently obtained devices
  • Provide false information or fraudulent payment details
  • Abuse refund policies or file chargebacks without contacting support
  • Resell our services without authorization
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to access our systems

You Must:

Payment: All payments are processed securely via Stripe. Prices include service fees and payment processing fees as displayed at checkout. Refunds: We offer a money-back guarantee for services that fail to deliver results. Refund eligibility varies by service type. See our Refund Policy for complete details. Chargeback Policy: Filing a chargeback before contacting support violates our terms and may result in account suspension and legal action.

UnlockRiver shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of our services.

We are not responsible for:

  • Device damage caused by user error or improper use
  • Loss of data during unlock process
  • Delays caused by third-party providers or carriers
  • Changes to carrier policies affecting unlock eligibility
  • Service interruptions or technical issues beyond our control

Maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific service.

Your privacy is important to us. We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Legal Compliance

Our commitment to legal and regulatory standards

UnlockRiver operates in full compliance with international telecommunications laws, consumer protection regulations, and data privacy standards. We are committed to providing legal, safe, and transparent services.

All our unlocking services use official manufacturer and carrier channels. We do not engage in illegal or warranty-voiding practices.

United States (DMCA & FCC)

Phone unlocking is explicitly legal under the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act (signed into law in 2014). This law amended the DMCA to allow consumers to unlock their phones.

  • Factory unlocking does not violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
  • FCC regulations support consumer rights to switch carriers
  • Carriers are required to unlock devices upon request (subject to contract terms)

European Union

Phone unlocking is legal throughout the EU. Consumer protection laws prioritize freedom of choice and market competition.

  • No laws prohibit phone unlocking
  • Consumer rights directives support device portability
  • Carriers cannot refuse unlocking for contract-free devices

United Kingdom

Phone unlocking is fully legal in the UK. Ofcom regulations support consumer choice and fair competition among carriers.

Canada

As of December 2017, carriers in Canada are required by the Wireless Code to unlock devices free of charge upon request.

Australia

Phone unlocking is legal in Australia. Consumer law supports the right to use devices with any compatible carrier.

Global Position

Factory phone unlocking is legal in virtually all countries. We operate internationally and comply with local telecommunications regulations in each jurisdiction.

We comply with EU GDPR requirements for data collection, processing, storage, and user rights.

  • Legal basis for data processing (contract fulfillment, consent)
  • Data minimization — we only collect what’s necessary
  • Right to access, rectification, erasure, and portability
  • Data breach notification procedures in place

We comply with CCPA requirements for California residents.
  • Right to know what personal information we collect
  • Right to deletion of personal information
